About Sons of the East

Sons of the East is a dynamic indie folk trio hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, consisting of Jack Rollins (vocals, guitar), Nic Johnston (vocals, keys), and Dan Wallage (guitar, banjo). Since their formation in 2011, they have crafted a unique sound that blends folk, blues, soul, and classic country, drawing inspiration from iconic songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Gram Parsons. Their harmonious style also channels the rich vocal textures of Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Avett Brothers, creating a warm and timeless musical experience.

The band’s debut album, "Palomar Parade" (2019), marked a turning point in their career, amassing nearly 100 million streams and introducing their heartfelt songwriting to a global audience. Independent and fiercely self-managed, Sons of the East have achieved remarkable success with over 700 million streams, 75 million YouTube views, and more than 100,000 tickets sold worldwide. Their captivating live shows have brought them to renowned international venues such as London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Los Angeles’ The Troubadour, New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, and Barcelona’s Sala Apolo.

In 2022, Sons of the East released their follow-up album "SONS," which builds on their signature blend of intimacy and exuberance, further cementing their status as a leading force in Australia’s indie folk scene.
