About Califato ¾

Califato ¾ is a vibrant Andalusian collective composed of The Gardener, Esteban Bove, Stay Puft (also known as Serokah), and Lorenzo Soria. Born from the innovative cultural networks of Breaking Bass, BSN Posse, LIE Radio, and Industrias94, the group seamlessly blends forward-thinking electronic music with the traditional sounds of Andalusian folklore. Their unique style pays homage to the region’s multicultural roots, spotlighting the often overlooked histories of Black, Romani, Muslim, and Jewish communities in southern Spain.

Califato ¾’s music reinvents flamenco by exploring its complex rhythms—especially the distinctive 3/4, 6/8, and 12/8 time signatures—through a fusion of electronic genres and melodies inspired by Judeo-Christian romances and “música cañí.” This approach pushes flamenco’s boundaries while remaining deeply grounded in its ancestral heritage. Their artistic manifesto embraces both reverence and rebellion, reinterpreting Andalusian cante and flamenco traditions via experimental sounds, street performances, and visual art.

Through this fresh cultural expression, Califato ¾ creates a renewed Andalusian identity that challenges conventional narratives and revives forgotten stories. Their pioneering work continues to captivate audiences, positioning the collective at the forefront of contemporary Spanish music and folklore innovation.
