About Aborted

Formed in 1995 in Belgium, Aborted has emerged as a pioneering force in the death metal scene, renowned for their ferocious blend of technical precision and raw intensity. Fronted by vocalist Sven de Caluwé, the band quickly gained recognition for their signature death-grind sound, marked by relentless speed and groovy breakdowns showcased on early releases like "The Purity of Perversion" (2002) and "Goremageddon: The Saw And The Carnage Done" (2003). Over the years, Aborted has evolved by weaving increasingly intricate and technical elements into their music, a progression clearly reflected in acclaimed albums such as "TerrorVision" (2018), "Retrogore" (2019), and "ManiaCult" (2021).

Their twelfth studio album, "Vault of Horrors" (2022), stands as a creative milestone and their debut on Nuclear Blast Records. This conceptual work uniquely fuses brutal death metal with horror film lore, with each track paying homage to cult classics—from iconic titles like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" ("Death Cult") and "Halloween" ("The Shape Of Hate") to newer inspirations such as "The Mist" ("Malevolent Haze"). This thematic approach underscores Aborted’s reputation as one of the most aggressive and innovative metal acts of the 21st century, continually pushing genre boundaries while maintaining their unyielding intensity.
