About Colin Benders

Colin Benders, born in 1986 in Utrecht, Netherlands, is a groundbreaking Dutch electronic musician and modular synth virtuoso known for revolutionizing live electronic performance. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Benders combines a profound understanding of music theory with cutting-edge technology, crafting immersive soundscapes that blur the lines between electronic music and free jazz. Central to his signature style is an expansive 243-module modular synthesizer rack, which he uses to spontaneously create lengthy, dynamic compositions characterized by intense sine waves, rich low-end frequencies, and dramatic crescendos.

Rejecting conventional production methods, Benders focuses on real-time improvisation, inviting audiences into evolving sonic journeys rather than fixed compositions. His inventive approach challenges traditional listening experiences, positioning modular synthesis as an intellectually rigorous, yet viscerally engaging art form. This unique fusion of technical mastery and creativity has earned him prestigious performances at major festivals and venues such as Dekmantel, Awakenings, Amsterdam Dance Event, Berlin’s Berghain, and London’s Printworks.

Colin Benders continues to push the boundaries of electronic and techno music by redefining the relationship between performer and listener. His work remains influential and enduring, inspiring a new generation of electronic musicians while consistently delivering captivating, mind-bending live experiences.
