About Rush

Rush, the legendary Canadian rock trio formed in Toronto in 1968, has cemented its place as one of hard rock’s most influential and enduring power bands. The original lineup featured guitarist Alex Lifeson, bassist and vocalist Geddy Lee, and drummer John Rutsey. In 1974, Neil Peart replaced Rutsey, becoming not just the band’s dynamic drummer but also its principal lyricist. Peart’s sophisticated, often sci-fi and fantasy-inspired lyrics became a defining element of Rush’s unique sound.

Rush’s commercial breakthrough arrived with the 1976 concept album "2112," inspired by Ayn Rand’s philosophy. This record showcased Lifeson’s complex guitar work, Peart’s intricate drumming, and Lee’s distinctive high-pitched vocals, earning the band widespread acclaim and a dedicated following. They built on this success with albums like "A Farewell to Kings" (1977), "Permanent Waves" (1980), and "Moving Pictures" (1981), featuring iconic tracks such as "The Spirit of Radio" and "Tom Sawyer." These releases solidified Rush’s status as formidable arena headliners.

Throughout the 1980s and early ’90s, Rush evolved their sound, exploring synthesizer textures on albums like "Signals" (1982) and returning to heavier rock on "Roll the Bones" (1991) and "Counterparts" (1993), both of which achieved significant chart success. Despite personal tragedies in the late ’90s, including Peart’s devastating losses, the band persevered with notable comebacks, releasing "Vapor Trails" (2002), "Snakes & Arrows" (2007), and their final studio effort, "Clockwork Angels" (2012). After decades of relentless touring and innovation, Rush officially stepped back from large-scale touring around 2015–2018, closing a remarkable chapter in rock history while leaving an indelible legacy through their virtuosic musicianship and devoted fanbase.
