About Ivan Ferreiro

Ivan Ferreiro is a distinguished figure in Spanish rock, first earning acclaim as the charismatic frontman of Los Piratas, a seminal band in the rock en español scene. Leading the group for thirteen years until their 2003 split, Ferreiro quickly became a respected voice in Spanish music. After the band disbanded, he took a brief hiatus from the public eye but soon returned to performing weekly gigs with his brother in their hometown of Vigo. Initially covering influential artists such as Los Planetas, Andrés Calamaro, and Alaska y Dinarama, these intimate shows soon shifted to showcasing Ferreiro’s original songs.

This creative revival led to his solo debut album, "Canciones Para el Tiempo y la Distancia" (2005), which earned critical praise and launched an extensive tour across Spain alongside drummer Karlos Arancegui. In 2006, Ferreiro traveled to Buenos Aires for a two-week writing session with other musicians, an experience that shaped his follow-up album "Las Siete y Media" (2006), expanding his reach across Spain and Latin America.

He continued evolving his sound with releases like "Mentiroso Mentiroso" (2008), notable for including a comic book illustrated by Spanish artists, and "Picnic Extraterrestre" (2010). His live album and DVD "Confesiones de un Artista de Mierda" (2011) captured dynamic performances with collaborative flair. Subsequent albums "Val Miñor - Madrid: Historia y Cronología del Mundo" (2013) and "Casa" (2016) underscore Ferreiro’s lasting impact as a versatile and innovative singer-songwriter who remains a vital force in contemporary Spanish music.
