About Phil Collins

Phil Collins, born in 1951, is a legendary figure in pop and adult contemporary music, whose career spans from child actor to internationally acclaimed musician. He began his artistic journey as a young performer playing the Artful Dodger in the 1964 London production of *Oliver!* and even appeared in The Beatles' film *A Hard Day’s Night*. Collins joined the progressive rock band Genesis as their drummer in 1970. When lead singer Peter Gabriel left the group in 1974, Collins stepped up as frontman, a turning point that shifted Genesis toward a more accessible and commercially successful sound with albums like *And Then There Were Three...* (1978) and *Duke*.

Collins launched his solo career at nearly 30 with the release of *Face Value* (1981), featuring the iconic track "In the Air Tonight." This haunting song introduced his signature atmospheric style and marked the start of an extraordinary solo run. Between 1984 and 1990, he achieved an impressive streak of thirteen consecutive U.S. Top Ten singles. Alongside a flourishing solo career, Collins remained active with Genesis, balancing both with remarkable success.

His extensive discography includes notable albums such as *Both Sides* (1993), *Dance Into the Light* (1996), and *Going Back* (2010), a Motown tribute featuring contributions from surviving Funk Brothers musicians. After a hiatus prompted by health challenges, Collins returned in the mid-2010s with new projects, tours, and his 2016 autobiography, *Not Dead Yet: The Memoir*. His legacy is further celebrated through compilations like *The Singles* (2016) and box sets including *Take a Look at Me Now* (2017), underscoring Phil Collins’ enduring influence on modern music.
