Zemfira Ramazanova, known mononymously as Zemfira, is a seminal figure in Russian rock music, born on August 26, 1976, in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan. Emerging in the late 1990s, she quickly distinguished herself with a unique blend of alternative rock and pop, marked by raw emotional intensity and poetic introspection. Zemfira’s self-titled debut album (1999) was a breakthrough, featuring memorable tracks like "Ромашки" (“Chamomiles”) and "СПИД" (“AIDS”), which captured the complex emotions and existential themes that would become hallmarks of her music.
