About Art Garfunkel

Art Garfunkel, born in 1941, rose to international fame as half of the legendary folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel. Renowned for his crystalline high tenor voice, Garfunkel’s vocals became a defining element of the duo’s timeless sound. After the group’s 1970 split, he embarked on a solo career while also pursuing acting, appearing in notable films such as *Catch-22* and *Carnal Knowledge*.

Garfunkel’s debut solo album, "Angel Clare" (1973), co-produced with Simon & Garfunkel collaborator Roy Halee, showcased his shift toward soft rock and featured the Top Ten hit "All I Know." His follow-up album, "Breakaway" (1975), produced by Richard Perry, marked his commercial peak, especially with the UK chart-topper "I Only Have Eyes for You." Throughout his solo career, Garfunkel collaborated with esteemed songwriters like Jimmy Webb and Randy Newman, expanding his repertoire beyond Paul Simon’s compositions.

Later works, including "Watermark" (1977), "Fate for Breakfast" (1979), and "Scissors Cut" (1981), reflected his ongoing artistic development, though his U.S. chart presence waned. He reunited briefly with Simon for a celebrated Central Park concert and world tour in the early 1980s. Garfunkel’s subsequent releases such as "Lefty" (1988), the introspective "Everything Waits to Be Noticed" (2002), and the Great American Songbook tribute "Some Enchanted Evening" (2007), highlight his dedication to refined musical craftsmanship. Balancing music and film throughout his career, Art Garfunkel remains an enduring figure in popular music history, celebrated for his distinctive voice and lasting influence in folk and soft rock genres.
