About Oklou

French electronic artist Oklou, born Marylou Mayniel in 1993 in western France, has emerged as a distinctive voice in contemporary electronic music. Classically trained in piano and cello, she initially released her debut EP, "Avril" (2014), under the name Loumar. Her evolving sound—an alluring blend of dreamy, futuristic pop infused with experimental ambient textures, trance, and innovative R&B—draws inspiration from artists like Arca, James Blake, and Palmistry.

After moving to Paris, Oklou co-founded TGAF (These Girls Are on Fiyah), an influential all-female DJ and radio collective, before relocating to London to join the experimental club label NUXXE. There, she collaborated with producers such as Sega Bodega, Krampf, and Bok Bok, refining her atmospheric style marked by ethereal synths, electronically altered vocals, and subtle field recordings. The 2018 EP "The Rite of May" and the critically acclaimed 2020 mixtape "Galore" highlight her ability to craft immersive, introspective soundscapes centered on emotion and self-discovery.

Oklou’s growing prominence includes collaborations and remixes with notable artists like A.G. Cook, Bladee, Dua Lipa, and Flume—appearing on Flume’s track "Highest Building" and supporting his U.S. tour. Her debut studio album, "choke enough" (2025), released via Because Music, features production from Casey MQ, Danny L. Harle, and A.G. Cook. With singles like "Family and Friends," Oklou continues to push the boundaries of electronic pop, solidifying her status as a pioneering and innovative artist within the global music scene.
