About CeeLo Green

CeeLo Green, born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway in 1975, is an influential American artist known for his soulful voice and eclectic blend of soul, hip-hop, and funk. He first rose to fame as a member of Goodie Mob, a pioneering group within Atlanta’s Dungeon Family collective, which played a crucial role in shaping the Dirty South hip-hop sound during the mid-1990s. Goodie Mob’s critically acclaimed debut album, "Soul Food" (1995), featured standout tracks like "Cell Therapy" that highlighted CeeLo’s songwriting and vocal talent.

Launching a solo career in the early 2000s, CeeLo released "Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections" (2002) and "Cee-Lo Green... Is the Soul Machine" (2004), albums that showcased his innovative fusion of genres and collaborations with producers such as Timbaland and The Neptunes. His songwriting and production prowess extended beyond his own work, notably with the Pussycat Dolls’ hit "Don’t Cha" (2005). As one half of the duo Gnarls Barkley alongside Danger Mouse, CeeLo achieved worldwide success with the Grammy-winning single "Crazy" (2006), a defining moment in alternative R&B.

CeeLo’s mainstream breakthrough came with his 2010 album "The Lady Killer," propelled by the multi-platinum single "Forget You," which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned multiple Grammy Awards. His later projects, including "Heart Blanche" (2015) and "CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway" (2020)—the latter produced with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys—marked his ongoing evolution toward a rich, retro-soul sound layered with contemporary influences. Beyond music, CeeLo has maintained a broad cultural presence through television, serving as a coach on NBC’s "The Voice" and competing on "The Masked Singer" UK, solidifying his status as a versatile and enduring figure in modern music.
