About Mystery Skulls

Mystery Skulls is the dynamic electronic dance project led by Venezuelan-born singer and songwriter Luis Dubuc. Born in Caracas, Dubuc moved to Toronto at the age of eight, where he cultivated a deep passion for dance music, alongside diverse genres like hip-hop and metal. His musical journey led him to Dallas, where he played drums for the metal band Thirty Called Arson and launched the electronic pop act The Secret Handshake. The 2009 album "My Name Up in Lights" from this project reached number seven on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, marking Dubuc’s early success.

In 2011, Dubuc reinvented himself as Mystery Skulls—a name inspired by a Nickelodeon episode of *Are You Afraid of the Dark?*—and relocated to Los Angeles. That year, he released the self-titled Mystery Skulls EP featuring the standout single "Amazing," which quickly gained traction within the electronic music scene. His breakthrough came with a Warner Bros. Records deal, culminating in the 2014 debut album *Forever*, a vibrant fusion of soulful vocals and infectious disco-infused electronic grooves, produced in collaboration with Nile Rodgers of Chic. Continuing to evolve his sound, Dubuc released the 2017 single "Music," leading to his sophomore album *One of Us*, further cementing Mystery Skulls as a compelling and innovative presence in modern dance music.
