About Death Grips

Death Grips, an experimental hip-hop trio from Sacramento, California, burst onto the music scene in 2010 with a fiercely innovative and uncompromising sound. The group features Stefan Burnett’s intense vocal delivery, Zach Hill’s explosive and frenetic drumming, and Andy Morin’s glitchy, distorted electronic production. Their 2011 debut mixtape, "Exmilitary," immediately gained critical praise for its aggressive, raw energy, setting the foundation for their boundary-pushing style.

In 2012, Death Grips signed with Epic Records and released "The Money Store," a breakthrough album that cemented their reputation as pioneers of industrial hip-hop fusion. However, their rebellious nature led them to self-release "No Love Deep Web" later that year as a free download, resulting in their departure from Epic. They continued to push limits independently, issuing "Government Plates" (2013) via their own Third Worlds label.

After announcing a breakup in 2014, Death Grips defied expectations by returning with the ambitious double album "The Powers That B" (2015). This release featured two contrasting halves: the vocal-heavy "Niggas on the Moon," sampling Björk, and the rawer, more traditional "Jenny Death." The band maintained their momentum with "Bottomless Pit" (2016), which received widespread critical acclaim, followed by the experimental "Year of the Snitch" (2018).

Renowned for blending industrial, punk, and hip-hop elements, Death Grips has remained a revolutionary force in alternative music, celebrated for their relentless innovation and fiercely independent spirit.
