About t.A.T.u.

t.A.T.u. was a pioneering Russian music duo consisting of Lena Katina and Julia Volkova, who first gained experience as members of the children's group Neposedy. Formed in 1999 and managed by Ivan Shapovalov, the pair quickly rose to fame with their debut album, "200 Po Vstrechnoy" (2001), which dominated Eastern European markets and established their signature blend of catchy pop-rock and provocative image. Their unique sound and bold persona captured widespread attention, paving the way for international success.

In 2002, t.A.T.u. released the English-language adaptation of their debut, "200 km/h in the Wrong Lane," under Interscope Records. This album marked a historic milestone, becoming the first by a foreign group to top the charts in Japan. It achieved platinum certification across Europe and gold status in the United States, propelled by global hits like "All the Things She Said" and "Not Gonna Get Us."

Further cementing their global influence, t.A.T.u. represented Russia at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest with the energizing track "Ne ver', ne boysia," earning a strong third-place finish. Active until 2011, t.A.T.u.’s fusion of edgy aesthetics with infectious melodies left an enduring mark on early 2000s music, solidifying their place as one of Russia’s most iconic pop acts.
