About Blackmore’s Night

Blackmore’s Night is a distinctive folk rock duo formed in 1997 by legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, famed for his work with Deep Purple and Rainbow, and ethereal vocalist Candice Night. Their partnership began in 1989, sparked by a mutual passion for Renaissance and medieval music, which inspired a departure from Blackmore’s rock roots to create a unique blend of historical melodies with contemporary folk rock. The duo’s debut album, "Shadow of the Moon" (1997), introduced their signature sound with haunting reinterpretations of ancient songs and featured a notable collaboration with Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson on flute.

Following this, albums like "Under a Violet Moon" (1999) and "Fires at Midnight" (2001) deepened their fusion of Renaissance instruments—such as Candice Night’s double reed woodwinds—with Blackmore’s electric guitar prowess. Their rich discography also includes "Ghost of a Rose" (2003), "The Village Lanterne" (2006), "Secret Voyage" (2008), "Autumn Sky" (2010), "Dancer and the Moon" (2013), "All Our Yesterdays" (2015), and the critically acclaimed holiday album "Winter Carols." Their latest offering, "Nature’s Light" (2021), continues to enchant fans by blending timeless medieval influences with modern sensibilities.
