About Cherry Poppin' Daddies

Cherry Poppin' Daddies, formed in 1989 in Eugene, Oregon, have carved out a unique place in American music by masterfully blending ska punk, swing, and funk rock. Initially rising from the underground punk and ska scenes, they gained widespread attention during the swing revival of the late 1990s. Their dynamic sound seamlessly fuses high-energy ska punk with sophisticated swing and jazz influences inspired by icons like Cole Porter and Frank Sinatra. This versatility has enabled the band to captivate audiences across diverse venues—from lively music festivals to elegant theater performances.

Over the years, Cherry Poppin' Daddies have cultivated a dual identity. They continue to deliver refined arrangements of classic American standards in polished shows while staying true to their roots with spirited, punk-inflected ska sets. Their resilience and creativity were especially evident during a challenging period when frontman Steve Perry cared for his wife Yvette, who faced a stage IV colorectal cancer diagnosis. During this time, the band stayed closer to home and released *Bigger Life* (2018), an album that marked a powerful return to their ska punk origins with fourteen energetic tracks aimed at reconnecting with longtime fans.

With a career spanning more than three decades, Cherry Poppin' Daddies remain celebrated for their ability to reinvent themselves while honoring the rich legacy of American music. Their enduring connection with fans and skillful genre blending have solidified their reputation as trailblazers in the modern musical landscape.
