About Maurizio Ravalico

Maurizio Ravalico is a dynamic percussionist, composer, and producer known for his adventurous fusion of diverse musical styles. Since settling in London in 1991, he has built an impressive career collaborating across Europe, including France, Germany, and Italy. His music seamlessly blends genres such as funk, salsa, jazz, electronic, and experimental composition, often intersecting with theatre, contemporary dance, poetry, and free improvisation.

Over the years, Ravalico has shared the stage with prominent artists like Paul McCartney, Jamiroquai, the James Taylor Quartet, and Dele Sosimi. He currently performs with distinguished ensembles including Tamar Osborn’s Collocutor, Phil Dawson’s quintet, and the string-driven Phaedra Ensemble, while also supporting singer-songwriters Noga Ritter and Attawalpa.

Between 2017 and 2019, Maurizio toured extensively across Europe with his solo percussion act, culminating in the release of "Nobody’s Husband, Nobody’s Dad" (2019). His latest work, "A Thousand Rawhide Diaphragms," highlights his innovative approach through a collection composed entirely on conga drums, showcasing his mastery and creative spirit.

Beyond performance, Ravalico is dedicated to education, leading The New Conga Lab—an online platform that advances contemporary conga drum studies and pushes the boundaries of percussion technique. Maurizio Ravalico remains an influential figure bridging diverse musical traditions with inventive percussion artistry.
