About Molotov

Molotov, the revolutionary rap-metal band from Mexico City, began their musical journey in 1995 with an original lineup featuring Tito Fuentes on vocals and guitar, bassists Mickey "Huidos" Huidobro and Jay de la Cueva, and a drummer known as "La Quesadillera." By 1996, the group’s lineup was firmly established when Paco Ayala replaced de la Cueva on bass, and Randy "El Gringo Loco" Ebright took over on drums. Molotov quickly gained widespread attention with their debut album, "¿Dónde Jugarán Las Niñas?" (1997), which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Performance and became a crossover hit among Spanish and English-speaking fans.

Their dynamic sound merges rap, rock, and politically charged lyrics, a combination that challenged traditional genre boundaries and resonated deeply across Latin America and beyond. In 1998, they released "Molomix," a remix album that capitalized on their growing momentum. The band further solidified their reputation with 1999’s "Apocalypshit," produced by Mario Caldato Jr., renowned for his work with the Beastie Boys. After more than two decades of influence, Molotov made a powerful comeback with "Dance and Dense Denso" (2020), demonstrating their enduring relevance and commitment to innovation within Latin rock. Molotov remains a pioneering force, known for blending aggressive energy with sharp social commentary, securing their legacy as one of Mexico’s most influential and groundbreaking musical exports.
