About Moonspell

Emerging from Portugal in 1992, Moonspell quickly became pioneers of European Gothic Metal, placing their homeland prominently on the global heavy metal stage. Their rise began with the acclaimed EP "Under the Moonspell," which set the stage for their influential debut album, "Wolfheart" (1995), released through Century Media. This album garnered international attention and laid the foundation for their signature blend of atmospheric and gothic metal elements. Building on this success, the follow-up "Irreligious" (1996) propelled Moonspell into worldwide recognition, earning a dedicated fanbase across five continents.

Over a career spanning more than thirty years, Moonspell has continuously evolved while staying true to their gothic metal roots, combining intense passion with atmospheric soundscapes. Their relentless touring, including sold-out shows in major Portuguese cities like Porto and Lisbon, as well as performances at Europe’s leading summer festivals, highlights their enduring appeal. Celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2022, they marked the milestone with a global tour reaffirming their influential legacy.

In recent years, Moonspell released the critically praised album "Hermitage" (2021), and as of 2023, the band is actively preparing new material. Alongside this, they have been thoughtfully reissuing key works such as "The Antidote" (2003), their debut demo "Anno Satanæ" (1993), and the digitally first-time available "Under Satanæ" (2007). These releases allow both longtime fans and new audiences to experience the depth and evolution of Moonspell’s atmospheric metal mastery.
