About Atreyu

Atreyu, hailing from Southern California’s vibrant music scene, formed in 1998 initially under the name Retribution, focusing on a punk-driven sound. By 1999, they rebranded as Atreyu, drawing inspiration from the heroic character in Michael Ende’s fantasy novel *The Neverending Story*. The band quickly made waves with their debut album, *Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses* (2002), released on Victory Records, which firmly established their presence in the post-hardcore and metalcore genres.

Known for their dynamic fusion of aggressive heaviness and melodic hooks, Atreyu refined their sound through critically acclaimed albums like *Lead Sails Paper Anchor* (2007) and *Congregation of the Damned* (2009). These releases showcased the band’s ability to balance raw intensity with accessible melodies, earning them a loyal fanbase and commercial success. After a hiatus beginning in 2011, Atreyu reunited in 2015, returning with renewed energy on *Long Live* (2015) and continuing their momentum with *In Our Wake* (2018).

In 2021, the band embraced a new era with *Baptize*, following lineup changes including a shift in vocal duties. This album reaffirmed Atreyu’s status as a stalwart of the heavy metal scene, demonstrating their resilience and commitment to evolving while staying true to the post-hardcore roots that have defined their influential career spanning over two decades.
