About Zebra

Zebra is an American hard rock trio that originated in New Orleans during the mid-1970s. Known for their electrifying fusion of progressive rock and glam metal, the band drew inspiration from iconic acts like Led Zeppelin, which shaped their powerful, dynamic sound. Their name was notably inspired by a Vogue magazine cover, setting them apart in the rock scene early on.

Zebra gained widespread recognition with their self-titled debut album (1983), produced by Jack Douglas, famed for his work with Aerosmith and Cheap Trick. This breakthrough record achieved gold certification and featured memorable singles such as "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind the Door," helping to cement their reputation on the East Coast. Their follow-up album, "No Tellin’ Lies" (1984), also produced by Douglas, entered the Billboard Top 100, though it displayed a less cohesive style compared to their debut. With their third album, "3.V" (1986), Zebra explored a more pop-oriented sound but faced limited promotional backing.

Renowned for their compelling live shows, Zebra released a live album in 1990 that included unreleased tracks, showcasing their raw stage energy. During the 1990s hiatus, vocalist and guitarist Randy Jackson pursued the short-lived project China Rain. The band reunited in 1997, and in 2003, they returned with their fourth studio album, "IV," reaffirming their enduring influence on rock music. Zebra remains celebrated for their vibrant stage presence and their lasting legacy in the hard rock genre.
