About Annie-Claude Deschênes

Annie-Claude Deschênes is a dynamic force in Montreal’s independent music scene, known for merging sonic innovation with bold performance art over nearly two decades. As a multi-talented singer, musician, songwriter, performer, and visual artist, she gained widespread recognition through her work with the acclaimed bands Duchess Says and PyPy. Both groups became celebrated for their electrifying live shows and inventive artistic vision, which challenged traditional stage norms and captivated audiences.

In 2024, Deschênes embarked on a new creative chapter with the release of her debut solo album, *Les Manières de Table*. This project marks a significant evolution in her artistry, shifting from raw aggression to vulnerability and introspection. Drawing inspiration from minimal pop and pioneering electronic music, the album fuses melodic, danceable tunes with haunting, dystopian undertones. Through this soundscape, Deschênes invites listeners to rethink social conventions by deconstructing the rigid codes of politeness that govern everyday interactions. Her work not only pushes creative boundaries but also encourages a radical reimagining of how we present ourselves and connect in an increasingly complex world.

Annie-Claude Deschênes remains a compelling voice in contemporary music, constantly reinventing her craft while maintaining the urgency and intensity that define her artistic identity.
