About The Used

Emerging from Orem, Utah, in the early 2000s, The Used quickly established themselves as a powerful force in the post-hardcore and emo scenes. Comprising vocalist Bert McCracken, guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard, and drummer Branden Steineckert, the band transformed personal struggles with poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse into a raw and heartfelt musical expression. Their self-titled debut album (2002) catapulted them to mainstream success with platinum-certified hits such as "The Taste of Ink," "Buried Myself Alive," and "Blue and Yellow," showcasing a signature blend of aggressive energy and emotional vulnerability.

Building on this momentum, The Used released *In Love and Death* (2004), debuting at number six on the Billboard 200 and featuring rock chart hits like "Take It Away" and "All That I've Got." They continued to evolve with *Lies for the Liars* (2007) while navigating lineup changes, including Steineckert’s departure and Dan Whitesides joining as drummer. Renowned for relentless touring on stages such as Warped Tour and Ozzfest, they shared bills with bands like Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance, with whom they collaborated on a cover of Queen’s "Under Pressure" for tsunami relief.

The Used’s artistic growth is evident in later works such as *The Canyon* (2017), inspired by personal loss, and *Heartwork* (2020), featuring collaborations with blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Their ninth album, *Toxic Positivity* (2023), highlights their enduring ability to fuse angst with anthemic hooks, solidifying their legacy as icons of emotive post-hardcore music.
