About MGMT

MGMT is a pioneering American indie rock and psychedelic pop duo formed in 2002 at Wesleyan University by Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. Originally known as The Management, the Connecticut-based pair began their musical journey blending edgy electroclash, synth-heavy sounds, and pre-recorded vocals with a raw, punk-inspired theatricality. Their early performances combined punk rebellion with performance art, capturing attention through their innovative and provocative style.

MGMT’s breakthrough came with their 2007 debut album, *Oracular Spectacular*, produced by Dave Fridmann. This critically acclaimed project spawned hits like "Kids," which earned a Grammy nomination and helped the album achieve platinum status internationally, including in the US, UK, Australia, and Ireland. The band built on this success with *Congratulations* (2010), a more experimental and psychedelic record co-produced with Sonic Boom that debuted at number two on the Billboard charts, illustrating their evolving ambition.

After releasing their self-titled third album in 2013 and briefly stepping back, MGMT returned with *Little Dark Age* (2018), a synth-driven collection inspired by ’80s pop aesthetics. This album marked a stylistic return to accessibility and featured collaborations with artists Ariel Pink and Connan Mockasin. *Little Dark Age* reached notable chart positions, reaffirming MGMT’s status as innovative yet approachable visionaries in modern psychedelic music. Their enduring influence continues to resonate across indie and alternative scenes worldwide.
