About Girl Ultra

Girl Ultra, the stage name of Mariana "Nan" de Miguel, is a striking figure in contemporary Latin R&B, hailing from Mexico City. Born in 1994, her musical identity is deeply influenced by her father’s eclectic record collection, which featured icons like David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and The Doors. Additionally, the glamorous presence and cinematic style of Mexican golden age diva Silvia Pinal have shaped her captivating stage persona and visual aesthetic.

Mariana’s musical journey began as the lead vocalist for the soft post-disco band AFFER during her high school years, where she worked alongside future producer Andrés Jaime (Wet Baes). This early collaboration paved the way for the breakout single "U Betta," produced by Wet Baes, which attracted the attention of Mexico City’s Finesse Records. Girl Ultra gained wider recognition through her sensual Spanish-language covers of artists like Drake, The Weeknd, and Daniel Caesar, performed in Mexico City’s vibrant Boiler Room scene.

Her international breakthrough arrived with the release of the "Boys" EP (2017), introducing lush R&B grooves blended with hip-hop, jazz, and Latin beats. The critically acclaimed follow-up, "Adios" EP (2018), featuring collaborations with Guadalajara producer Phyx, solidified her reputation. Standout singles such as "Abril," "Duele," and "Ella, Tu y Yo" highlight her sultry vocal style and sophisticated sound. The 2019 single "Dame Love," featuring Cuco, amassed over 1.5 million views in a matter of weeks. Her debut full-length album, "Nuevos Aires" (2019), showcases intimate, jazzy compositions propelled by Rhodes piano and groovy basslines, reflecting influences from androgynous 1970s icons and a seamless blend of vintage glam with modern edge.

Today, Girl Ultra stands as one of Latin America’s most compelling R&B voices, continuously evolving her sound while captivating audiences across Mexico City, Los Angeles, and beyond.
