About Kamelot

Kamelot, formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1992 by multi-instrumentalist Thomas Youngblood, stands as a pioneering force in contemporary power metal. Youngblood remains the band’s sole constant member amid numerous lineup changes, guiding Kamelot through an evolving sound that uniquely blends classical influences, gothic and doom metal elements, progressive rock, and symphonic grandeur.

The band rose to prominence with their 1995 debut, "Eternity," released on Noise Records, followed by notable albums such as "Dominion" (1997), "Siége Perilous" (1998), and "The Fourth Legacy" (1999). Their collaboration with Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan, who fronted the band from 1997 to 2011 and co-wrote much of their material during this period, helped shape some of Kamelot’s most critically acclaimed work. Albums like "Karma" (2001), "Epica" (2003), and "The Black Halo" (2005) cemented their signature theatrical and symphonic style.

Transitioning to SPV/Steamhammer marked a new creative era, highlighted by "Ghost Opera" (2007), which gained entry into the Billboard Top 200 via the Heatseekers chart. Subsequent releases such as "Poetry for the Poisoned" (2010), "Silverthorn" (2012), "Haven" (2015), and "The Shadow Theory" (2018) showcase Kamelot’s commitment to ambitious concept albums, solidifying their reputation as enduring innovators with a global fanbase. Known for combining powerful storytelling with complex musicianship, Kamelot continues to influence the metal scene with their dynamic and richly layered sound.
