About Prong

Prong is a pioneering heavy metal band that originated in New York City's vibrant Lower East Side in 1986. Founded by singer and guitarist Tommy Victor, who worked as a sound engineer at the legendary CBGB club, and bassist Mike Kirkland, then a doorman at the same iconic venue, the band emerged from an authentic underground scene fueled by raw energy and creative grit. Prong quickly distinguished themselves by blending elements of New York noise, hardcore punk, thrash metal, and industrial sounds into a powerful groove metal style. This distinctive fusion allowed them to stand out amid the heavy music landscape while influencing a wide range of subgenres including industrial metal and crossover thrash.

Following a hiatus in the late 1990s, Prong reunited in 2002 and resumed their dynamic evolution. Over several decades, Tommy Victor’s vision has driven the band through an expansive discography that reflects relentless innovation and intense aggression. Their thirteenth studio album, "State of Emergency" (2023), exemplifies their unwavering commitment to pushing heavy music forward. Known for their association with respected labels like Epic Records and Steamhammer, Prong’s legacy is marked by a fierce blend of punk attitude and metal precision. They remain a seminal force, inspiring countless artists and maintaining relevance within both industrial and groove metal communities worldwide.
