About Yung Lean

Yung Lean, born Jonatan Leandoer Håstad in Stockholm, Sweden, stands as a pioneering figure in Scandinavian hip-hop with his distinctively melancholic and atmospheric style. At just 16, he co-founded the influential Sad Boys collective alongside producers Yung Gud and Yung Sherman, a group whose name embodies the introspective and emotional tone that defines their sound. Yung Lean first captured international attention in 2013 with the viral hit "Ginseng Strip 2002," which quickly amassed millions of views and established him as an internet sensation.

That same year, he released his debut mixtape *Unknown Death 2002* and the *Lavender* EP, which further solidified his growing fanbase. His first studio album, *Unknown Memory* (2014), achieved notable success, charting within the Top 40 on various U.S. charts, including Billboard’s Heatseekers and R&B/hip-hop categories, paving the way for extensive tours across Europe and North America. Following this, Yung Lean released the sophomore album *Warlord* (2015) along with the single "Crystal Clear Ice" on the Adult Swim label, and the *Frost God* mixtape, featuring a collaboration with A$AP Ferg on "Crystal City."

Embracing artistic evolution, Yung Lean’s 2017 album *Stranger* marked a shift from his earlier cloud rap roots toward a more mainstream pop-trap sound. Continuing to explore genre boundaries, he released the single "Creep Creeps" in 2019, blending hip-hop with electronic influences. Through his innovative approach and emotive lyricism, Yung Lean remains a trailblazer in the global rap scene, continually redefining the contours of modern hip-hop.
