About God Lives Underwater

God Lives Underwater is an influential American electronic and industrial rock duo that emerged from small-town Pennsylvania in 1993. Founded by childhood friends Jeff Turzo and David Reilly, the pair united their passion for computers and keyboards to craft an innovative blend of industrial, techno, and alternative rock. Their collaboration began with an experimental track created for a party, which sparked the decision to pursue music full-time.

Their distinctive sound quickly captured the attention of legendary producer Rick Rubin, who signed them to his American Recordings’ Onion subsidiary. In 1995, God Lives Underwater released a self-titled EP followed by their debut full-length album, "Empty," both of which showcased a dynamic fusion of electronic programming and rock energy. To bring their sound to life on stage, the duo expanded with guitarist Andrew McGee and drummer Adam Kary, enhancing their live presence.

Continuing to evolve, they dropped their sophomore album, "Life in the So-Called Space Age" (1998), a record that further cemented their place in the late-90s industrial rock scene. This album highlighted their skill in marrying cutting-edge electronic elements with alternative rock frameworks, earning them critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. Over time, God Lives Underwater has remained a pioneering force in the electronic-industrial crossover movement, leaving a lasting legacy in American alternative music.
