About Staind

Staind, a multi-platinum rock band formed in 1995 in Springfield, Massachusetts, carved a unique niche by blending nu-metal with hip-hop, modern rock, and post-grunge influences. The band’s core lineup took shape when vocalist Aaron Lewis and guitarist Mike Mushok connected in 1993, later joined by drummer Jon Wysocki. Staind built their early reputation through relentless touring across the Northeast and self-releasing their debut, *Tormented*, which sold over 2,000 copies. Their breakthrough arrived when Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst discovered them during a Hartford show, helping secure a record deal with Flip Records and enlisting producer Terry Date.

Staind exploded into the mainstream with their 2001 album "Break the Cycle," which went five-times platinum and featured the top five hit "It's Been Awhile," alongside other fan favorites like "Fade" and "Epiphany." This success established them as a powerhouse in alternative rock and nu-metal. They continued to dominate the charts with albums like *14 Shades of Grey* (2003) and *Chapter V* (2005), both topping the Billboard 200, as well as *Illusion of Progress* (2008) and a self-titled release in 2011. A highlight of their career includes a gold-certified MTV Unplugged performance in 2002.

Following a hiatus starting in 2012—during which Aaron Lewis explored a solo country career and Mike Mushok joined the supergroup Saint Asonia—Staind officially reunited in 2019. Overcoming pandemic delays, the band resumed touring in 2022 and released *Confessions of the Fallen* (2023), a fresh album that integrates electronic elements into their heavy rock foundation, reaffirming Staind’s enduring influence on rock music.
