About The Polyphonic Spree

The Polyphonic Spree is a dynamic musical collective from Dallas, Texas, founded in 2000 by frontman Tim DeLaughter after the breakup of his previous band, Tripping Daisy. Known for their large ensemble—often featuring up to 23 members dressed in flowing robes—the group revolutionized indie rock with a lush, orchestral sound and euphoric live performances. Their breakthrough arrived with the critically acclaimed debut album "The Beginning Stages of..." (2002), which included the enduring anthem "Light & Day/Reach for the Sun." This uplifting track has become a cultural staple, further cementing the band's distinctive blend of psychedelic pop and symphonic rock.

Over the years, The Polyphonic Spree has released a rich discography, including notable albums like "Together We’re Heavy" (2004), "The Fragile Army" (2007), "Yes It’s True" (2013), "Psychphonic" (2014), and a covers collection called "Afflatus" (2021). Their music has appeared in film soundtracks, such as Tim DeLaughter's score for Mike Mills’ "Thumbsucker" and a cover of Nirvana’s "Lithium" for the Oscar-winning film "The Big Short." The band has also captivated audiences worldwide, performing at prestigious events like the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and touring alongside legends such as David Bowie.

Continuing to evolve creatively, The Polyphonic Spree released "Salvage Enterprise" in 2023, reinforcing their status as one of Texas’s most cherished and innovative musical exports with a lasting impact on the contemporary rock landscape.
