About Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton, born October 7, 1968, in Severn, Maryland, is a celebrated figure in contemporary R&B known for her soulful, husky voice and timeless ballads. Raised in a strict Apostolic household, Braxton and her four sisters honed their vocal skills singing gospel under the guidance of their operatically trained mother. Influenced by male vocalists such as Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder, she developed a distinctive style that blends emotional depth with mainstream appeal.

Braxton first entered the music scene performing with her sisters as The Braxtons before being discovered by songwriter Bill Pettaway, which led to a solo contract with LaFace Records in 1991. Her 1993 self-titled debut album launched her to stardom, producing hits like "Another Sad Love Song" and "Breathe Again," and earning her Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. She solidified her legacy with the 1996 album "Secrets," featuring the iconic "Un-break My Heart," a powerhouse ballad that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eleven weeks and garnered multiple Grammys.

Throughout her career, Toni Braxton has released successful albums such as "The Heat" (2000), "Libra" (2005), and "Pulse" (2010), consistently charting in the Top Ten. Her collaborations include the Grammy-winning album "Love, Marriage & Divorce" (2014) with Babyface.
