About Kery James

Kery James has been a defining force in French rap for over 25 years, blending incisive social commentary with powerful storytelling. Born to Haitian and Guadeloupean parents, he emerged from the Parisian suburbs to become one of the most influential voices in the French hip-hop scene. His music is marked by lyrical depth and authenticity, rooted in his personal experiences and his conversion to Islam, which adds a distinctive spiritual dimension to his work.

Kery James’s artistic journey extends beyond rap into theater and film, showcasing his versatility. Notably, his 2019 theatrical production "À Vif" captivated 47,000 spectators as it toured extensively across France, highlighting his ability to merge music and dramatic arts. His live performances have been equally impactful, with the sold-out 2017 "MouHammad Alix Tour" at the Zénith and another major Zénith concert in late 2018 solidifying his enduring popularity. His 2018 album, featuring the evocative track "J’RAP encore!," marked a fiery return to his rap roots and reaffirmed his commitment to cultural expression and activism.

From late 2021 to early 2022, Kery James embarked on the intimate "Mélancolique Tour," where he revisited his most iconic songs in acoustic arrangements, deepening his connection with audiences. Constantly evolving, Kery James continues to push creative boundaries with new films, theatrical projects, and music, maintaining his role not just as a rapper but as a multifaceted artist and a powerful voice in contemporary French culture.
