About BT

Brian Transeau, widely known as BT, is a pioneering figure in electronic music whose career has spanned over three decades. Born near Washington, D.C., BT began his musical journey with classical piano training at the Washington Conservatory of Music from the age of eight. His early grounding in orchestration and string arrangement later became a hallmark of his richly textured electronic productions. After briefly studying at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, he immersed himself in the vibrant electronic scene, eventually catching the attention of influential British DJs Sasha and Paul Oakenfold.

BT’s breakthrough arrived with his early 1990s singles like "A Moment of Truth" and "Embracing the Future," which led to his signing with Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records and the release of his debut album, "Ima" (1995). This album, along with the follow-up "ESCM" (1997), solidified his reputation, featuring club anthems such as the worldwide hit "Blue Skies," a collaboration with Tori Amos. His sound continually evolved, embracing trance roots before expanding into progressive house, drum and bass, and hip-hop influences evident in "Movement in Still Life" (1999).

Beyond his solo artistry, BT has made significant contributions to pop music production, including NSYNC’s "Pop" and tracks for Britney Spears, while also composing scores for films like *Go* (1999) and *The Fast and the Furious* (2001). His 21st-century releases, including the Grammy-nominated "These Hopeful Machines" (2010) and the experimental orchestral album "This Binary Universe" (2006), showcase his boundary-pushing approach. As a tech innovator, BT founded Sonik Architects and developed the revolutionary stutter edit plugin. In 2012, he formed the synth-pop duo All Hail the Silence with Christian Burns, releasing the album "Daggers" in 2019. BT remains a versatile and influential force, melding classical sophistication with electronic innovation across music and technology.
