About Motörhead

Motörhead, formed in 1975 by bassist and vocalist Lemmy Kilmister, stands as one of the most influential bands in heavy metal history. Born Ian Fraser Kilmister on Christmas Eve 1945, Lemmy brought a wealth of musical experience from the 1960s and his time as Hawkwind’s bassist, where he co-wrote the hit "Silver Machine" (1972). After his departure from Hawkwind, Lemmy founded Motörhead, pioneering a raw and aggressive fusion of biker rock’s thunderous attitude with punk’s breakneck speed. This powerful blend laid the foundation for the speed and thrash metal genres that followed.

Motörhead’s classic lineup—Lemmy, guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke, and drummer Philthy Animal Taylor—crafted seminal albums such as "Motörhead" (1977), "Overkill" (1979), "Bomber" (1979), and the iconic "Ace of Spades" (1980). The title track of "Ace of Spades" became an enduring metal anthem, while the live album "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" (1981) topped UK charts, cementing their reputation. Despite numerous lineup changes throughout their 40-year career, Motörhead’s relentless touring and steady stream of albums, including "Orgasmatron" (1986), "Bastards" (1994), and "The Wörld Is Yours" (2010), kept their loyal global fanbase energized.

Lemmy’s gravelly voice and hard-living persona defined the band’s gritty image until his passing in 2015. Motörhead’s final studio release, "Bad Magic" (2015), alongside the posthumous live record "Clean Your Clock" (2016), marked the end of a legendary chapter. Today, Motörhead’s groundbreaking sound continues to influence metal musicians worldwide, securing their legacy as pioneers of heavy metal’s fiercest frontier.
