About Yiruma

Yiruma, born Lee Ru-Ma on February 15, 1978, in Seoul, South Korea, is a renowned pianist and composer celebrated for his evocative fusion of classical technique and new age ambiance. Beginning piano lessons at the tender age of five, he moved to London at ten to study at the prestigious Purcell School of Music and later earned a composition degree from King’s College London in 2000. That same year marked his professional debut with the albums *Love Scene* and *First Love* (2001), the latter featuring "River Flows in You," a signature melody that gained international acclaim and charted in the Top 20 in countries like Germany and Austria.

Throughout a prolific career spanning over two decades, Yiruma has released numerous albums showcasing his minimalist, emotive style. His 2003 release *From the Yellow Room* includes the beloved track "Kiss the Rain," further cementing his global appeal. Beyond studio albums, Yiruma has composed film scores for movies such as *Oasis* (2002) and *Doggy Poo*, and collaborated with artists like German DJ Jasper Forks, who remixed "River Flows in You." His 2011 compilation, *The Best: Reminiscent 10th Anniversary*, reissued in 2020 with new arrangements, topped both Billboard’s Classical and New Age charts, underscoring his enduring popularity.

In 2021, Yiruma celebrated 20 years in music with *Rewritten Memories* and *Solo*, albums that revisit and reinterpret his most cherished compositions. Known for his engaging live performances, often inviting audience participation, Yiruma continues to enchant listeners worldwide with his heartfelt piano melodies, bridging classical tradition and contemporary accessibility.
