About Django Django

Django Django, the innovative UK-based four-piece formed in London in 2009, have carved a unique niche with their eclectic fusion of art-rock, electronic, and experimental sounds. Spearheaded by co-founder and visionary Dave Maclean, the band continually pushes musical boundaries by blending diverse influences—from bluesy pop and Middle Eastern cabaret goth to Afro-acid beats and piano-driven rave—into a distinctively kaleidoscopic sonic palette.

Their fifth studio album, *Off Planet* (2023), represents a bold creative leap, unfolding across four chapters, each dubbed a "planet." The concept draws on ufology as a metaphor for transcending artistic limits, inviting fresh voices into their world. Maclean personally curated collaborators such as Self Esteem, Jack Peñate, Stealing Sheep, and Toya Delazy, injecting new rhythms and perspectives without diluting Django Django’s unmistakable identity.

The album’s lead single, "Complete Me," featuring Self Esteem’s Rebecca Lucy Taylor, pulses with ’90s-inspired breakbeats layered over lush organs, pianos, and synth strings, highlighting catchy hooks that underscore the band’s knack for crafting memorable melodies. Notably, Self Esteem’s connection with Django Django dates back to early releases on Maclean’s Kick + Clap label and tours following the band’s *Marble Skies* (2018).

Throughout their career, Django Django has garnered acclaim for their fearless sonic experimentation and boundary-defying artistry, evolving while maintaining the inventive spirit that has defined them since their inception. Their fearless approach and genre-blending style continue to influence the UK’s vibrant alternative music scene.
