About Rachel Sutton

Rachel Sutton is a British jazz singer-songwriter renowned for her emotive vocals and theatrical storytelling that seamlessly blend jazz, folk, pop, and blues. Raised in the Kent countryside, her musical roots are deeply influenced by the romantic ballads of Cole Porter and George Gershwin, the soulful melodies of Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel, and the haunting lyricism of Joni Mitchell, Janis Ian, and Judy Collins. This rich tapestry of influences shapes her distinct sound and compelling songwriting.

Before fully embracing music, Sutton studied theatre at Glamorgan University and The Welsh College of Music and Drama. She toured extensively across the UK and Europe, performing leading roles in Shakespearean plays and earning acclaim at both the Edinburgh and New York Fringe Festivals. Her acclaimed acting, particularly in *Lansky: The Mob’s Money Man* at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and Cadogan Hall, brought her recognition as "a stand out performer… a revelation" by London Jazz News, highlighting how her dramatic background enriches her live performances and songwriting with emotional depth and flair.

Rachel’s debut album, *A Million Conversations* (33 Jazz Records, 2023), garnered widespread critical praise, with Jazz Views describing it as “a revelation” for its heartfelt and high-quality compositions. She has become a beloved figure on the UK jazz scene, selling out shows at prestigious London jazz clubs and performing at international festivals. Known for her natural stage presence and collaborations with acclaimed artists like Liane Carroll and John Etheridge, Sutton continues to captivate audiences. Her eagerly awaited sophomore album, *Realms*, is scheduled for release in March 2026, promising to further showcase her evolving artistry.
