About Vald

Vald, born Valentin Le Du on July 15, 1992, in Aulnay-sous-Bois, France, stands out as a pioneering voice in contemporary French hip-hop. Initially focused on academics, Vald pursued a scientific high school diploma and studied medicine and mathematics before discovering his passion for rap at age 17. Influenced by artists like Alkpote and Sexion d’Assaut, he crafted a distinct style characterized by sharp, comedic lyricism infused with unusual inspirations ranging from conspiracy theories to horror films.

Vald’s entry into the rap scene began with his 2012 mixtape "NQNTMQMQMB," followed by the 2014 EP "NQNT," whose single "Bonjour" gained significant online popularity. His 2017 debut studio album "Agartha" propelled him into mainstream success, topping French charts and achieving double platinum status, thanks to standout tracks like "Ma meilleure amie" and the collaboration "Vitrine" with Damso. Vald continued to cement his prominence with the 2018 album "XEU," featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Sirius and Sofiane.

In 2019, he launched his own label, Echelon Music, releasing "Ce Monde Est Cruel" to critical and commercial acclaim. The following year, Vald partnered with Heuss l’Enfoiré on the joint album "Horizontal Vertical" (2020), showcasing his versatility and collaborative spirit. His 2022 album "V" further solidified his status at the forefront of French rap, spotlighted by the chart-topping single "Peon," a dynamic collaboration with Orelsan.

Vald’s innovative approach, blending humor, sharp social commentary, and eclectic influences, continues to push boundaries, making him a compelling and enduring figure in French music.
