Formed in San Francisco in 1990, The Brian Jonestown Massacre stands as a seminal force in psychedelic rock, driven by the visionary leadership of singer and guitarist Anton Newcombe. Named as a tribute to Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones, who pioneered the blend of Eastern and Western sounds, the band has undergone extensive lineup shifts, with Newcombe remaining the unwavering creative anchor. Over more than three decades, the project has embraced a diverse sonic palette, merging shoegaze, psychedelia, country, blues, and experimental elements.

The band's breakthrough came with a prolific burst in 1996, releasing four albums including the acclaimed "Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request," a richly textured homage to 1960s psychedelia fused with contemporary shoegaze. Other landmark albums like "Take It from the Man!" (1996) and "Thank God for Mental Illness" showcased their versatility and evolving sound.
