About L.A. Guns

L.A. Guns, formed in 1983 on the iconic Sunset Strip, stands as a cornerstone of the hair metal and hard rock scenes. Founded by guitarist Tracii Guns, the band played a crucial role in rock history through its early association with vocalist Axl Rose. This connection ultimately led to the formation of Guns N’ Roses when L.A. Guns merged with Hollywood Rose in 1985. Although Rose left to pursue that venture, Tracii Guns returned to focus on his original band.

After several lineup changes—including the initial frontman Paul Black—L.A. Guns solidified their classic roster with Phil Lewis on vocals, Mick Cripps on guitar, Kelly Nickels on bass, and Steve Riley on drums. Their self-titled debut album (1988) captured a raw, Aerosmith-inspired hard rock sound that resonated with fans. The follow-up, "Cocked & Loaded" (1989), delivered a commercial breakthrough with the gold-certified album featuring the Top 40 hit "The Ballad of Jayne."

Despite the shifting musical landscape brought on by grunge, L.A. Guns persisted throughout the 1990s and 2000s, releasing albums like "Hollywood Vampires" (1991), "Vicious Circle" (1994), and "Man in the Moon" (2001). Periods of lineup fluctuation and parallel versions of the band marked this era until the pivotal reunion of Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis in 2016. This resurgence sparked new creative energy, producing acclaimed albums such as "The Missing Peace" (2017) and "The Devil You Know" (2019). Today, L.A. Guns continues to celebrate and evolve classic hard rock with enduring influence.
