About Avicii

Avicii, born Tim Bergling in Stockholm in 1989, rose to prominence as a pioneering force in the late-2000s electronic dance music (EDM) revolution. Starting his music career at 18 in his bedroom, he developed a signature melodic house sound influenced by artists like Daft Punk and Steve Angello. Early tracks such as "Bromance" and "My Feelings for You" (2010) caught the attention of industry heavyweights like Tiësto, who offered him a residency in Ibiza, and Pete Tong, who released his debut single "Manman."

His global breakthrough arrived with the 2011 anthem "Levels," which sampled Etta James and achieved multi-platinum status, cementing Avicii’s place on international dance charts. In 2013, he redefined EDM with "Wake Me Up," featuring Aloe Blacc's soulful vocals. This genre-blending hit topped charts in over 20 countries and spearheaded his debut album, "True" (2013). The album showcased a unique fusion of EDM and folk, often termed "folktronica," and included collaborations with Adam Lambert, MØ, and Nile Rodgers. Tracks like "Hey Brother" and "Addicted to You" further solidified his artistic versatility.

Avicii continued evolving his sound with the remix album "True: Avicii by Avicii" (2014) and the pop-infused sophomore album "Stories" (2015), which featured collaborations with artists such as Zac Brown, Wyclef Jean, Matisyahu, and Martin Garrix. Despite his soaring success, health challenges forced him to retire from live performances in 2016, concluding with a final show in Ibiza. Tragically, Avicii passed away in Muscat, Oman, in 2018 at just 28 years old. His innovative approach and unforgettable hits left an enduring impact that transformed the landscape of modern electronic music.
