About Bobby Lee

Bobby Lee, a Sheffield-born guitarist, designer, and writer, has established himself as a pioneering voice in the ambient Americana and cosmic country scenes. His distinctive sound fuses widescreen instrumental landscapes with elements of heavy psych, acid-folk, Balearic grooves, analogue electronics, and tape music. Drawing inspiration from the analogue warmth of artists like JJ Cale and Tony Joe White, as well as the modal guitar sophistication of Richard Thompson, Lee’s music spans swampy grooves, motorik rhythms reminiscent of Neu! and Crazy Horse, and laid-back found-sound folk-funk.

Performing solo, leading his trio with Mark Armstrong on bass and keys and Guy Whittaker on drums, or collaborating with pedal-steel innovator Joe Harvey-Whyte, Lee crafts immersive compositions marked by drum-machine-driven swamp rock chuggles and frayed denim textures. His debut album, "Shakedown in Slabtown" (2020), released on his Natural Histories label, garnered widespread acclaim and set the stage for subsequent releases. The minimalist four-track "Origin Myths" EP (2021) on Tompkins Square Records marked a creative breakthrough, followed by the expansive "Endless Skyways" (2023). His collaborative album "Last Ride" (2025) with Harvey-Whyte further explores the blend of analogue Americana and cosmic psych.

Bobby Lee’s recordings have been released through respected labels such as Tompkins Square, Curation Records, Leng, Wonderfulsound, and Re:Warm, solidifying his reputation for crafting a unique, widescreen sonic palette that bridges traditional Americana with modern psych and Balearic disco aesthetics.
