About Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage, formed in Western Massachusetts in 1999, stands as a cornerstone in the evolution of metalcore, blending thrash-inspired European guitar techniques with raw East Coast hardcore intensity. The band’s lineup—vocalist Jesse Leach, guitarists Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and drummer Justin Foley—crafted a dynamic sound underscored by thought-provoking lyrics and relentless energy.

Their breakthrough came with the 2002 album "Alive or Just Breathing," widely regarded as a landmark in heavy music and frequently cited among the greatest metal albums of its decade by outlets like Decibel, Metal Hammer, and Revolver. This release set the stage for a series of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums. Notable works include "The End of Heartache" (2004) and "As Daylight Dies" (2006), both earning gold certifications, along with "Incarnate" (2016), which peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Rock and Hard Rock Albums charts.

Killswitch Engage’s innovation and influence have been recognized with two GRAMMY® nominations for Best Metal Performance (2005, 2014) and over half a billion streams worldwide. Their ongoing evolution is evident in their eighth studio album, "Atonement" (2019), released under Metal Blade Records, further cementing their role as pioneers who continue to shape the metalcore genre with compelling intensity and technical mastery.
