About The Hooters

The Hooters, a Philadelphia-based rock band, emerged in 1980 as a dynamic force blending rock, folk, and ska. At the core of the group are singer/keyboardist Rob Hyman and singer/guitarist Eric Bazilian, whose creative partnership dates back to their earlier band Baby Grand. With producer Rick Chertoff, they crafted songs that not only shaped The Hooters’ distinctive sound but also contributed to Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 breakthrough album *She’s So Unusual*, including the timeless hit "Time After Time," co-written by Hyman.

Completing their lineup with guitarist John Lilley, bassist Rob Miller, and drummer David Uosikkinen, The Hooters gained national attention with their 1985 Columbia Records debut, *Nervous Night*. This album produced MTV favorites such as "And We Danced," "All You Zombies," "Day by Day," and "Where Do the Children Go." Their unique flair was underscored by the use of the melodica—known as the "hooter"—which inspired the band’s name.

Following the gold-certified *One Way Home* (1987), The Hooters released albums like *Zig Zag* (1989) and *Out of Body* (1993) before taking a hiatus. During this period, Hyman and Bazilian furthered their songwriting careers, notably co-writing Joan Osborne’s Grammy-nominated "One of Us." The band reunited in the early 2000s, touring internationally and releasing albums such as *Time Stand Still* (2007) and *Give the Music Back* (2017), solidifying their legacy as a distinctive and enduring presence in American rock history.
