About TR/ST

Canadian musician Robert Alfons leads TR/ST, a dark electronic music project that has carved a distinctive space within synth-pop, darkwave, and industrial soundscapes. Originating from Toronto, TR/ST’s sonic identity is marked by pulsating synthesizers, ethereal yet haunting vocals, and emotionally charged lyrics exploring themes of identity, desire, and vulnerability. Since its debut with the self-titled album *TR/ST* (2012), the project quickly gained critical acclaim for its moody atmosphere and innovative production, captivating audiences worldwide.

Building on this foundation, Alfons expanded TR/ST’s sound across subsequent releases including *Joyland* (2014) and the ambitious two-part *The Destroyer* series (2019). These albums showcase a richer texture and more complex arrangements, blending club-ready beats with introspective lyricism to resonate with both underground dance scenes and indie electronic audiences. TR/ST’s distinctive style evokes nostalgia and futurism simultaneously, drawing from influences ranging from classic synth-pop to contemporary techno.

Beyond studio recordings, TR/ST has become known for immersive live performances, combining intense energy with compelling visuals that enhance the overall experience. Throughout its evolution, TR/ST remains committed to pushing creative boundaries, redefining contemporary electronic music while maintaining accessibility for listeners seeking sophisticated, emotionally honest synth-driven soundscapes. This ongoing dedication has secured TR/ST a loyal global following and establishes Robert Alfons as a vital force in modern electronic music.
