About Winnipeg, MN

Winnipeg, MN is an alternative folk collective from Brighton, UK, featuring members AJ, Catherine, Jamie, Nathan, Sam, and Will. Drawing inspiration from slowcore and DIY folk icons like The Microphones, they emerged onto the scene with their debut album, "Love in Life and Death" (2019), released on Eyeless Records. This album laid the foundation for their signature sound—haunting, introspective, and atmospheric—characterized by unusual chord progressions, lo-fi textures, and eerie sonic layers that challenge and captivate listeners seeking depth and emotional complexity.

In 2020, Winnipeg, MN expanded their sonic palette with the "Bouzouki Songs" EP, a five-track collection that introduced electric guitars, drum machines, and the distinctive bouzouki. This release marked a shift toward a more uplifting and expansive atmosphere while maintaining their experimental edge. Critics have praised their ability to blend traditional folk instrumentation with modern electronic elements, crafting immersive soundscapes that balance melancholy with moments of euphoric brightness.

By consistently pushing boundaries within the alternative folk genre, Winnipeg, MN has established themselves as a distinctive and innovative voice in the UK's vibrant music landscape, offering evocative music that resonates deeply with those seeking rich, emotive, and unconventional folk experiences.
