About Bass Drum of Death

Bass Drum of Death is a lo-fi garage rock duo rooted in Oxford, Mississippi, spearheaded by multi-instrumentalist John Barrett. Since founding the project in 2007, Barrett has been the creative core, handling vocals, guitar, bass, and drums in the studio. Live performances bring drummer Colin Sneed on board, adding intensity to their raw, high-energy shows. The band burst onto the scene with their debut EP "Stain Stick Skin" (2008) released on Fat Possum Records, laying the groundwork for their gritty, blues-infused sound. Their first full-length album, "GB City" (2011), featured the standout single "Young Pros," which helped cement their reputation within the indie and noise rock communities.

In 2013, Bass Drum of Death signed with Innovative Leisure, releasing their self-titled sophomore album, which refined their rambunctious garage punk edge without sacrificing their trademark unpolished vibe. After a brief hiatus, they returned in 2018 with the single "Heavy," issued through The Century Family and RED MUSIC, showcasing an evolution in their gritty style while staying true to their DIY ethos. Known for blending fierce riffs with a raw, bluesy energy, Bass Drum of Death continues to resonate deeply with fans of underground rock, maintaining a fierce, uncompromising presence in the lo-fi garage scene.
