About H_ngm_n

Brighton-based duo H_ngm_n, composed of longtime friends Chris Childs and James Martin, has carved out a distinctive niche in the UK emo scene with their emotionally charged, hook-laden sound. Drawing clear influence from bands like The Hotelier, Tigers Jaw, and The Early November, they blend jangly guitars, math-rock-inspired melodies, and propulsive drums to forge a nostalgic yet fresh sonic identity. Their 2018 EP, "I Don’t Wanna Go Home" (Real Ghost Records), masterfully pairs sorrowful, introspective lyrics with infectious, upbeat rhythms. This release garnered critical acclaim and led to extensive tours across the UK and Europe, cementing their reputation for crafting cathartic anthems centered on themes like anxiety, excess, and the struggle of growing older.

H_ngm_n’s music stands at the crossroads of raw modern emo intensity and the vibrant spirit of early 2000s pop-punk, creating a gritty emo-pop experience that resonates deeply with listeners seeking both relatability and energetic release. Known for their intricate rhythmic structures and memorable singalong choruses, the duo continues to explore personal and universal challenges through their lyrics. With their debut full-length album slated for release in 2025, H_ngm_n are poised to deliver an emotionally powerful collection that balances heartfelt storytelling with captivating melodies, further solidifying their role as a compelling force in contemporary emo music.
