About Mike Patton

Mike Patton, born on January 27, 1968, in Eureka, California, is celebrated as one of rock music’s most versatile and innovative vocalists. His extraordinary vocal range effortlessly shifts between crooning, rapping, harsh screams, and avant-garde experimentation, making him a singular figure in alternative and experimental music. Patton’s musical journey began in high school with the eccentric and genre-defying band Mr. Bungle, which laid the groundwork for his reputation as a fearless boundary-pusher.

His breakthrough to mainstream success came in 1988 when he joined Faith No More, replacing Chuck Mosley as lead singer. With Patton at the helm, Faith No More released landmark albums such as "The Real Thing" (1989), "Angel Dust" (1992), and "Album of the Year" (1997). The band’s hit single "Epic" (1989) brought them international acclaim and cemented Patton’s status as a dynamic frontman.

Beyond Faith No More, Patton has led or collaborated in a range of cutting-edge projects, including the experimental supergroup Fantômas (formed with Slayer’s Dave Lombardo), the hardcore band Dead Cross, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, and Nevermen. In 1999, he founded Ipecac Recordings, a label dedicated to releasing innovative and experimental music. Through Ipecac, Patton has worked with influential artists such as John Zorn, Sepultura, and the Melvins, broadening his artistic reach.

Patton’s creative pursuits extend into film scoring and voice acting for video games, contributing compositions to soundtracks like "1922" and "The Place Beyond the Pines." With a career spanning nearly four decades, Mike Patton remains a vital and influential force, continuously reshaping the landscape of modern rock and experimental music.
